My boyfriend's roommate is from China. He told me his parents are majors in the Chinese army.

Isn't the Chinese army like a super oppressive evil communist army? Doesn't that mean his parents are like.. ultracommunists?

  1. No, the People's Liberation Army is neither super oppressive, evil nor as Communist as any other military. Their government makes all the big decisions, the PLA simply follows it. Just like in any other country. Neither the current Chinese President nor his predecessor were military men, either.

Are his parents Communist? Who knows. But I hardly think extreme socialist leanings are necessary to secure a commission - it'd be like pondering if US Army Officers had to rise through the Republican or Democratic Party to get their rank.

  2. Hmm, not really. I could become a McDonald's employee doesn't mean I like burgers, I might just like working there. You cannot judge somebody with that information, and it shouldn't be a huge concern anyways.

    Adam.

  3. haha 100% volunteers...that's a joke. Everyone is brainwashed in that country to begin with, so of course they're going to "volunteer." We're talking about a land where infants are selected and groomed to become gymnasts in a country whose leaders will lie for them and forge certificates so they can compete in the Olympics. Hahaha...funny funny. I'm sure them being a higher rank just means they performed better in a particular sense, not necessarily that they are more communist than say some super-communist yet tactically-stupid private.

  4. Communism is an economic system, not a political system where all forms of distribution, manufacturing and employment is controlled by the state. China is arguably the most capitalistic country in the world. They are communist in name only, even Henry Kissinger and many others have said that. Yet in the press and our government, they are usually referred to as a communist state. Impossible and totally wrong. If anything, they have an authoritarian system with a capitalistic economic system and socialism for needed services. Surprisingly, America is similar with less authority.

I don't have to tell you about US military. My Lai Massacre. Abdu Gahrib. Massacre of civilians in Vietnam with numerous Operation forces. Wedding Massacre in Iraq. Rape of 14 year old girl and killing of family.

  5. Not at all. Most likely, they just want to serve their country. Being a major in the U.S. Army doesn't make someone an ultra capitalist. The Chinese Army is made up of 100% volunteers, ordinary citizens who are not set on world domination. They are just serving their country, and the government, not the soldiers, make an army oppressive.

To kim l, it IS made up of 100% volunteers. There is a law that military service is mandatory for every male aged 18, but it is not, and never has been enforced, because of the overwelming amount of volunteers. You clearly have some severe misconseptions of the country.

  6. All Chinese care for, military or not, is money. Ultra communist ideology was buried soon after Mao died. Don't worry.

The only bad thing about them is that they are ingenious bribers.

  7. do you realize not all Germans that fought in the German army were n***s..the fought because they loved their country and because they feared Hitler and the SS..some country's make their citizens serve..so they feel what the h**l..i might as well make the best of it..
