I have a very tame grey, i can handle him and touch him all over his wings and body.

Do you think a aviator harness or feather tether is a better harness (comfortable//safe)???

  1. you have to work slow on the harness  and let the bird get used it  being around  let the bird touch it play with it ect before trying to put it on if the bird resisit then let it go for a few days and try again. a good harness is a flight suite which most pet store carries . also just because youre grey is nice and handable does not mean he or she will except a flight suite at all it might not and it might  be a problem

  2. I am sorry, but I don't believe that the other people who answered your question actually own large birds! I think you are lucky to have a Grey that lets you touch him all over;and I would consider him a great candidate for a harness! I have a baby Grey (5 months old) that is very affectionate but only really when you touch him on the head and neck. I plan on working on things and I do own a bird harness that I would love him to wear one day-I think it is a great way to get a bird out and socialized to other places, and I DO know parrots that wear harnesses and enjoy them. I don't have very high hopes that it will work out in my case, however, and I tend to wonder if once a bird is no longer a very sweet little baby if it isn't quite difficult to get them to adjust to something so unfamiliar. Still, if you really want to try it I wouldn't let the people on here discourage you. Good luck!

  3. The aviator is defiantly a better harness.  It is a better design and much safer.  Not only that, but it is really meant to allow flight.  Just remember to start slow, by just showing it to him etc etc.  I know many of bird owners with Grey's and Amazons (even larger) that use the aviator and love it.  I personally have heard too many stories of birds being injured or escaping the feather tether to even try it.  The aviator may be more expensive but it is well worth the cost.

  4. No, I dont. Birds weren't meant to be tethered. Let him be in his area and play with him.

  5. This aviator harness I think is better & has less clips-

This aviator harness is meant for having your parrot on a leash & fly safely.

Thats so cool that you have a Grey! They're such beautiful & intelligent birds :)

  6. Bird harnesses aren't really a good idea. Birds can get tangled in them and few will actually tolerate wearing one. If you don't want your parrot to fly, it's better to clip his wings.
