I don't believe that everyone has psychic abilities. I think that there are a select few born with them. It doesn't make them special or anything. Does anyone else think this way? If you don't, feel free to voice your opinion on this subject.....

  1. Let me get this straight.

You think that only a select few are born with it but it doesn't make it them special or anything?

    Huh?

I think that everyone has the capability to be psychic if they apply themselves and 'work out' that part of the mind.

I also believe that some people have it more developed than others and that for them, it comes much more naturally.

I don't think those people that have it more fully developed are just a handfull, I think there are a lot of them out there.

  2. Psychic abilities are basically nothing more than a heightened perception of the normal senses, therefore no, it is not really anything special. Getting the occasional "feeling" of someone looking at you (for example) and when you turn, you see that you were correct, is also a normal experiance. This is often heightened when a person is "looking" for a partner. The persons awareness is more in tune with the enviornment and perceptive of potential partners and also competition. Another example would be when a person looses their sight. The shift toward the use of the other senses is natural. Another point is when a person "feels" that their partner is being unfaithful. My ex always said a persons thoughts should be private. I agree but as long as there are people that can read another, this is not reality. She knew I can do it and still tried to be deceptive, that is why she is now ex. She did not appriciate I knew the truth of her whereabouts and interests. She did claim that, it was only couriousity and not a pursuit and because she no longer felt secure, due to my abilities, is one of the reasons we seperated. I would not use the ability when someone is honest with me, I generally "feel" the differance.

If you look at psychic abilities as natural abilities that are enhanced, everyone has the potential. All children seem to have a heightened couriosity and perception, it is part of survival instincts. As the person becomes more secure, comfortable and familiar with themself and their surroundings, learning to deal with things within what is considered the "normal" range of the senses becomes "normal". As the person becomes embedded in daily life with the stresses and distractions, less awareness beyond the "normal" five senses are utilized. When a person retires and leaves the workforce and if the concerns of daily life are also reduced, the awareness in other respects occasionally becomes again heightened.

For the person who learns to either depend upon or at a minimum not neglect the heightened awareness is considered "born" with the abilities. They are "born" with the same abilities as others, what makes them different is the continued access to it, but that does not necessairly make them special. For me to consider a person special, would be more what they actually do with it, than what they could possibly do.

Working in the feild of research and stimulation of the heightened senses, I find that everyone does have the potential, it is a matter of stimulating it. Once that is accomplished, the maintainance and control is the main problem.

As I was "born" with these abilities and they increased as opposed to decreased over time, due to survival instinct and my early situation, I had to learn to block it. What some call a "gift"can also be a "curse". I in no way consider myself "special" due to the abilities, I refuse to utilize them openly most of the time. People often respond with fear that I will anvade theip private thoughts. They did although give me a push in the direction of my career field and a different perspective toward the research. My awareness allows me to see, feel and know what a person  sees, feels and thinks, giving me an ability to understand even when they cannot find the words to explain their experiance.

  3. I think anyone can have a flash of intuition but no one is psychic 24/7.  Some may have it more than others but people like Sylvia Brown are full of bull.

  4. It DOES make you feel "special" when it happens...as if God had called you....then people say you're crazy...and they really believe you are. That's a different kind of "special". lol I don't think this could happen to anyone without it making them feel special. Of course, I'd feel special too if I could play the piano! It's not a kind of "pride" thing though. It's more humbling than anything. You want to say.."Why ME??? I don't deserve this!" Of course...sometimes it turns out not to be a "blessing". I think it should be a natural thing for everybody ...but evidently it's either not....or it's dormant in them and they don't realize it. What's bad is when it happens and you don't know anyone else it has happened to and you have no one to guide you .You really are like a newborn coming into it. That can be disastrous. It was for me. I didn't have this section then. Wish I had.I don't think it's that the people it happens to think they're special.I think the ones it doesn't happen to thinks they they they're special. Although...I realize some people do get spiritual pride. That's a really bad thing and can be very dangerous to the person and others concerned. It's a free gift that should be given freely. Would you charge someone for advice? That would be silly. Everyone would be broke.

Edit...LOL Seerlights...I always wondered what that meant..to "put your pants on one leg at a time". Somebody said that to me about themselves one time. I definitely sensed pride when he said it. I wanted to ask him did he think he was an idol. (He DID !)

Jonquill...Wish you'd open your email for us.

  5. I have abilities, but I do not consider myself different than anyone else. My Grandmother had this saying.."you are no better than anyone else, but you are just as good as those who think themselves better".  So, unless you hung your pants on a nail and hopped in them this morning, congratulations!  You are just the same as me!

  6. The idea that some people are born with psychic abilities seems to be a natural one, since some people do seem more naturally talented than others in certain things, such as music or sports or math. But we haven't found someone yet who tests as psychic under controlled conditions so until we know that psychics actually exist I don't think we can say whether it is a natural talent or not

  7. I believe it depends on the ability.

However, I'm starting to study some data that most people do have latent abilities... it's kind of a rare thing not to, according to the data I'm researching, which is teachable ESP and which has actually been explored (and is verifiably in current use) by both US and Russian military organizations.

Remote viewing is a form of psionic ability. I'm still researching the results, but they do in fact look quite impressive to say the least. One of the data sets offered by the CIA seems to indicate that there are people who can't do it, but that this may be a relatively uncommon thing.

  8. I have some psychic abilities. I don't think i am anymore special that anybody else who hasn't got any abilities, actually sometimes i wish my abilities would take a holiday lol. Some people with abilities think they are special because they can do, see, feel, etc things that most people can't and take advantage of it and people who want them to do readings etc. What i personally hate is when someone who has no psychic abilities pretends to, and does fake readings for people and charging them money for it, i think that's disgusting. It makes those who genuinely have an ability look really bad.

  9. yes -some are born, other - produced, third - trained, many - with their illusions for paranormal nursing commercial sites and industry etc.

So - try to find the natural truth.

  10. Do psychic abilities exist? Absolutely YES. It is not heightened perception. It is not being a good guesser. There are psychic abilities far greater than "I feel the phone is going to ring." I believe this with all my heart. Why? I've had one psychic experience in my lifetime and it was so profound that it has driven me for the last 11 years to find the answers to the "paranormal".

That being said though, I do not think people are 24/7 psychic. Heck, I think they are lucky and way above percentile if they are 30 minutes / 1 day a month. Unfortunately during my 11 years of research, I have met alot of "psychics". What I found has been disturbing. Some are guessers. Some are bulls#$t artists. Some have been complete downright frauds. The scariest of the bunch are the ones are the people who are not psychic at all, but they believe sincerely they hold gifts. It leaves me wondering what threads hold the difference between imagination, self delusion, and insanity in ones mind. Do not take me wrong, I am not saying all psychics are insane. Far from it. However, not all psychics are psychic.

As a scientist, it is hard for me to say this openly. However the more I experience in this world, the more I think this world is made not of the laws of physics, but by the laws of belief. Things operate by how the majority of belief dedicates they should. Maybe this belief stems from science or religion. For example, gravity is an undeniable force because everyone is aware what gravity is and accepts it to be an undeniable force. That reality can warp when there is enough contrary belief to the accepted norm. When enough people, enough belief forms that a home is haunted, the belief is localized enough to establish a haunting. When a haunting fades is it because our belief in the haunting is fading at the same time. Less people subscribe to the idea that something paranormal should be occurring. Likewise, in that moment of heightened belief of your own abilities, you are inducing your own psychic abilities, by shifting the accepted reality around you.

In an odd way, it explains why alot of psychic celebrities are disdained and considered frauds. These people who once had a strong belief about their gifts is now surrounded by doubts and people believing opposite of what they claim they can do. The contrary belief being the more powerful of the two force dictates how the reality is to behave. Suddenly, if they had any ability, it is lost and they are no frauds as everyone believes them to be.

  11. I think we all have psychic abilities, it's just latent in most of us.  Some are finer tuned that's all.  I'm an intuitive which is different from psychic and I kinda take it for granted because I've been this way for so long.  It's nice because you know who to stay away from.

  12. I don't think anyone has psychic abilities.

BTW I like the way you say 'feel free to voice your opinion' 'cos it really gives me the willys when people say 'if you don't believe, don't answer'.

And you know we're all going to give you our two cents worth anyway :-)

  14. Scientific research done over two decades under contract to the US government provided good evidence that most people seem at least to have some degree of ESP ability.  I've taught about 150 people remote viewing skills and I've found very few who weren't able to function psychically at least a little, and most did reasonably well.  It seems to behave like other human skills -- a few folks become stellar performers, a few never 'get' it, but the majority succeed reasonably well.  I often suspect that some psychics who claim that they are gifted and that such gifts are rare may be just trying to hold onto their monopoly, or their market niche, LOL!
