Hey guys, okay, i'm an intermediate snowboarder and recently bought my first board. I saw the flow bindings and thought they would be good because the rest of my family ski's and they get super impacient when i take like three minutes to get ready. I keep hearing different things about it like; it's heavy, no control, loose, doesn't last long.

if anyone can help me out. i mostly do mountain stuff, not much park but it maybe in the future.

  1. I just bought some flows recently, but i'm going back to regular bindings. For me, they took longer to get into and i was constantly re-adjusting them. They were just plain frustrating. I wouldn't recommend Flows. They are more for the advanced boarder.

  2. flow bindings are a no go. my friend had them and his feet were popping in and out. that is something you never want to happen because you could really get hurt. i would not recommend flow bindings.

burton makes a binding called the fusion i believe, which is fast and almost like a step in binding. check them out

  3. The topic of Flow bindings typically split any group of snowboarders into two groups: love'em and hate'em.   I am in the hate'em group but have friends who love them.  From these love'em people here are some tips: don't get anything  old.  Flows have come a long way in the past few years, so older models should be avoided.  Stick to the higher-end Flows.  The low-end bindings don't seem to fit or support as well as the top models.

Personally, I love my Ride 390's.  They are one of the most comfortable  and responsive  bindings I've tried.  It takes about 20 seconds to do up your bindings.  IF your friends and family won't wait that long for you.... well, I feel bad for you!

  4. I've never tried them but they seem like a good idea that's a bit poorly executed.  They're too new for me to be interested in them, after they've been established and worked out the kinks I might give them a try.  From what I hear they're not much faster than regular bindings.

It's not too hard to learn how to strap in standing up, most of the time I don't sit down after the lift and just coast to a stop and then carefully lean over, strap in and ride off.  I managed to pick that up within my first week riding so I'm sure you'll be able to nail that before too long!

  5. here's the skinny on flows.

I love em. Actually I just snagged a set of NXT-AT's and I can't wait to ride em. They take some getting used to and you really have to take time in the begining of the day to get em adjusted right, but in the end they're quicker and easier.

I've heard a bunch of people say flows break. I have a set of Flow Amp-5's on one of my boards I've ridden for 2 seasons and had no issues with quality with whatsoever.

I know alot of people saythey're heavy. I think that's a load of bull. we're talking OUNCES of difference here. People make em sound like they're made out of concrete or something. Unless you have relly weak leg muscles or you're trying to do world record flips and spins where every ounce of your gear counts, it won'd make a l**k of difference how much your bindings weigh.

I really love how they hold your entire foot instead of putting all the pressure on my toes. my feet feel way better at the end of the day.

The only real downside to my flows I've found is that they can be kinda tricky on warm days (like days where it's 30-40 degrees). When the snow starts melting the soles of your boots kinda catch on the floorplates of the bindings and you gotta push hard to get em in. Then again I only had this problem with my old Salomon Defcon boots which really sucked in general. I have since upgraded to Salomon F-20's which seem to work better but I haven;t ridden on a warm day in em yet.

  6. I wouldnt recommend them because my friends have them and their feet pop out of them sometimes..theyre pretty much poorly made but it was a good concept. get regular bindings and just practice strapping in i guess
