Okay, help me please. I need to shine at try-outs?

Alright, I have 3 days left of try-outs.

I need as much advice as possible.

1. How can I do as many push-ups as possible? I am pretty bad at them...I can't do very many and we are tested on this.

2. How can I do as many sit-ups as possible?

3. How can I push myself to run fast fast fast at the half mile?

4. What is a 6-2 rotation?

5. What is a 5-1 rotation?

6. How can I heal a rugburn?

7. How can I serve receive better? I am always really spastic with serve receive, I am never far enough back and I send it flying in a bad direction.

Thanks so much.

  1. Basicly just say, do i want to be on this team, or do i wanna feel like **** later cuz i didnt try my hardest.  push ups just do it hard.

  2. 1. Try doing girlie pushups first where your knee touches the ground on Day 1 and Day 2.  So if you do 2 sets of 10 pushups on day 1 and 2, on day 3, try doing full pushups, but only 5 of them.  Then rest.  You need to be fresh for the tryouts.

    2. Same thing as above. Get your body ready for situps by doing easy ones on Day 1 and 2, but go easy on Day 3.

    3. Don't worry about running fast.  You're either fast, or you're slow.  Just do your best.  Make it up on the other parts of the tryouts.

    4. 6-2 rotation means you have two setters.  The setter will always be coming from the back row so that you have 3 hitters (power, middle and offside).  When the setter rotates to the front, the opposite player now becomes the setter and you (the other setter) gets to hit usually from offside.  But remember, the setter is NOT allowed to jump and spike or jump and put the ball over to the otherside, otherwise the setter will be called for a backrow violation.

    5. 5-1 rotation means there is only 1 setter and five hitters on the team.  The setter when in the back will come through and set with 3 hitters.  But when the setter is in the front row, he only has 2 hitters (usually a power and middle) but the setter can now hit and jump to block.

    6. to heal a rugburn, rub aloe vera on it.  let it heal.

    7. To serve receive better, make sure you're knees are slightly bent, and your arms are in front of your body with the hands pointing to the floor.  Your knees should be bent looking like you're sitting on a toilet (but not too extreme).  Then, when you receive the pass, don't straighten your arms and elbows and lean back.  Instead, absorb the ball and let the ball hit your forearms and NOT your hands or wrists.  Practice that and see if the flight of the ball stays in the air straight and not off to one side.

    8. GOOD LUCK!

  3. Well im about to go to the last day of Volleyball tryouts and 1 & 2 & 3 is really just based on how much you can push yourself and how much you want it. Don't over due push up and sits ups though, and when running don't push yourself til you feel sick, pulling something or straining something, possibly will make your chances worse. If you dont know about a 6-2, 5-1 rotation, just ask your coach, they'll explain it better because in there perspective it may be different then what mine is. Rugburns are really common in Volleyball, i dont heal mine, i show mine off, like 'dude, look what i got digging for this ball!' lol but if you want it gone put alcohol on it first, and then neosporin and cover with a bandaid :)

And when receiving a serve, make sure not to anticipate it to much, just bend your knees and get in a crouched position with your hands below you. Make sure you dont run with your hands together, it slows you down. And most importantly concentrate on hitting the ball right right direction, you can control this with your legs and your arms. Make sure you dont swing your arms when you hit the ball, that could be the reason the ball is flying everywhere...

and if the ball doesn't go the right direction

make SURE to ask the coach

he'll respect your willingness to learn :)

    hope this helped
