Okay, i have a seriously stupid question?

I'm very sorry but I have the stupidest question out there. What is anime? I hear people talking about it ALL the time! i know it is a Japanese comic thing, but can you explain more? please no trash talk cause I know that I am stupid for not knowing...but I would like to know. OH! and is there someone on it named Alen? or something like that... I took a quiz and said something about him... I really am confused...

Anime is Japanese cartoons.

For example Pokemon, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, and etc is considered Anime.

yeah - that's what it is - its tv shows to kinda - Pokemon and dragon ball z - avatar - things like that - its a japanese style of drawing cartoons - for comic book or movies and stuff - its pretty cool stuff some of it - goggle search it - you will mind some stuff on it

Anime is to put it simple,a form of cartooning,that was basically made by the Japanese,and it adapted to Americans(ex:Speed Racer,Astro Boy)I could say that it is freakishly popular and main-stream,but then I'd be lying.

Anime is short for animation. Really Anime is anything animated, like Spongebob or Looney Tunes or anything you might call a 'cartoon'. However, for the most part people seperate 'cartoon' and 'anime', and 'anime' means anything animated that comes from Japan. So the people talking about anime mean cartoons from Japan.

There are all kinds of anime: Romantic, Action-packed, Comedy, Drama, Funny, Horror, Silly, Serious, s**y, Fighting, Adventure, and so on. Like we have all kinds of cartoons like Spongebob, Looney Tunes, Superman, Spiderman, Family Guy, the Simpsons, etc. There is the Cartoon Network channel where they show cartoons 24 hours a day. There are tons of japanese cartoons as well, and we call them 'anime'. They are really popular right now.

To help, there is Japanese Manga (which are like big, very detailed comic books) that Japanese people read and that get translated into English so American people can read it too. In Japan, if a manga is really popular with readers and makes money, then they turn it into a cartoon series. That cartoon series, since it is from Japan, is what people in America call 'anime'. For example, Garfield. Garfield is a very popular newspaper comic, and so they made a cartoon series out of it (and movies) Same thing happens in Japan, only they have more comics that are made into cartoons. Lots of people in America love anime, so they take episodes of an anime and translate it into English and put subtitles onto the bottom of the screen (The characters in the anime speak Japanese, and what they are saying is written out in English at the bottom of the screen) Some companies caught on to this, and they take the anime and hire people to re-do the voices in English.

Some popular anime you will hear a ton about are:

Naruto (Funny show, about Ninjas, good if you like comedy and action)

Bleach (Funny but seriosu show, about ghosts and monsters, good if you like science fiction, some adventure and swords)

One Piece (Funny show, about pirates, good if you like silly stuff, pirates, adventure and fun)

Dragonball Z (Older show, Action and more action. Good if you like fantasy and fighting)

Pokemon (Made off of the video game, good if you like cute animals, adventure, fun, some comedy)

And to answer your question is tough. There are tons of anime series out there, and like I said above, many people take the japanese episodes and subtitle then in English, so Alen can be from any anime. There is an Allen from the anime D/Gray man, silver hair, one funny eye. That is the only Alen I can think of
