  3. Keep the lens open and on tripod

  4. The camera needs to have a B setting for time exposures. You will also need a tripod and dark settings, rooms, out doors at night, etc. Too many other lights and they may ruin the EFX of your light painting.

Flashlights with adjustable beams, like Mini Mag Lights work well and so do the cheap laser pointers you can get anywhere now a days. You don't need big, bright lights, almost the opposite, lil pen lights work quite well. However, if your going to be working at a distance you may have to experiment.

You can paint objects as well as people with your light sabers and don't be afraid to cover the lenses of your lights with colored plastics or such. You can also get in the picture your self as you outline a person or object and as long as YOU keep moving, you wont be seen and have your light aimed AT the camera as you - outline....

How fast YOU move with the light, or just moving the light, like a laser at something, all depends on your cameras ISO setting and here you will have to experiment some more. If your camera allows you to go in a manual mode, you may want to experiment on F - stops as well. Manual focus may be required as well in dark places.

    Have fun
