A friand (39 years old) had some heart problems and half of his hear stoped working, he had 4 young girls 1 year to 8 years old.

He is adopted in Ohio and his wife would like to find his family.

How can I help her. There are so many search sites and they aren't really search friendly.

What are the main search sites?

Any suggestions when searching?

thanks a ton

  1. Just search heart sites it;ll probably explain

  2. Actually, the mormon church is a great place to start.  They have some of the most detailed geneology records anywhere.

  3. First - add details to the registries here

    http://www.isrr.net/

    http://registry.adoption.com/

Check here for information on your state records here -

Sorry about your friend - I hope the search is successful.

  4. Definitely ISRR registry and also this one is good:

    http://www.gsadoptionregistry.com/

If I were your friend I'd petition the Court where the adoption was finalized citing access to family medical history

  5. I'll start with the standard info...

If you have your friend's information, you could try to put it on some registries...

(I don't know if you can put his info on ISRR, but maybe his wife can?):

    http://www.isrr.net

You can also put his info on adoption.com:

    http://registry.adoption.com/

If he went through an agency, they may offer reunion facilitation services. (It will cost money, though not as much as a private investigator.)

That's the initial stuff.  Do you know much about his information?  His birthdate?  Place?  (If he was adopted in Ohio, records are sealed from that era, as I know all too well.)  Searching can be a lot of work, but this should get you started (and you might get lucky).

Good luck to you (and your friend).
