  1. I agree with the above posted answer, I am going on a cruise to the bahamas in October and they will accept your birth certificate for now but in April 2009 it will be required for everyone to have a passport to re-enter the united states.

  2. Actually, no, not to enter the Bahamas. The site below combines information from both the U.S. State Department and the Bahamas government.

You don't really need a passport to enter the Bahamas, but you need one to re-enter the U.S. You do need to fill out an immigration card upon your arrival in the Bahamas.

That said, it's a habit for many visitors from the U.S. to show their passports when visiting another country simply because they are required by the U.S. government to take them along for re-entry.

And it's not a silly question because the rules are getting complicated.

  3. Yes

  4. Yes. I went to the Bahamas last summer and it was required that I have my passport with me. Hope this helps!

  5. I am going on a cruise to the Bahamas in Aug. and they said that a birth certificate and a license will be fine. But next year the rules will be changing to a passport required.

  6. It is a foreign country, so, Yes.
