  1. if you get good grades, definitely retake it. there is always room for improvement. college board always says the same sh*t about how retaking it wont help but it will. the first time i took my sat i got a 2110. second time i got a 2200. i am taking it again for the last time in october because i know i can do better. whats there to lose? DEFINITELY retake you can do better! :)

  2. I would definitely retake it if you feel you are capable of doing better. Before you retake it, I would try to find out what happens on test day that kills your performance. The fact that you are getting good grades means you are capable of doing well. Unless you correct what happens on test day, all the studying in the world will not help you much.

I would cancel the second one if possible, because the fact that your score went down definitely would not look good.  By the way, is that just math and critical reading, or is it all three sections?

  3. Take a lot of practice tests before you retake it (a lot is about 5-10 I guess). If the practice tests show no promise, chuck the standardized test idea and devote yourself to writing good essays, volunteering, extracurriculars...other stuff that will get you into college.
