  1. Take comfortable shoes, or even flip flop you can take off in the plane, take as well some reading material. I'm sure you will be chatting with your school friends, that helps to overcome your nervousness. Drink that camomile, it never hurts. Maybe a little description of what it feels like will help?

The take off is always impressive the first time, once the plane leaves the ground the ride up is usually a little bumpy if there's a little wind or clouds. Just take a deep breath and it will pass away once the plane has attained enough altitude and speed. If you seat next to a window look down and enjoy the view. Don't be afraid to enjoy it, I've been flying for 15 years and I still put my nose against the window. The whining sound coming from the wings are the flaps going back in the wings, the clank are the wheels going up in their compartment.

Then it is a boring 8 hours ride. You have a meal and usually a film. Best thing to do is not watch the film and sleep as you usually land in the morning and start a brand new day.

Landing is bumpy. Big bumbling plane going down, loud whining noises from the wings are the flaps going down to make the wings wider and have a smoother ride down, the clank are the wheels going down. You hit the ground and feel the plane weave a bit before it settles down. The engines roar and then the plane slow down and you're there. That's the most impressive part... and look at the bored look of the staff. They know it is just noise and some shaking. The best way is to take your mind off it. Try reciting that dratted French alphabet, or count the number of seconds it takes for the plane to stop, or make a game with your friend to come up with as many bad puns or names for cats or other such games in the time it takes the plane to stop...

And once in France, don't forget to say 'bonjour' every time you meet someone new. It's basic courtesy. It might even make the custom guy smile. 10 points for you if he does.

  2. Just relax and just remember you're way safer on a plane than in a car.  If need be take some benadryl right before take off.  It should make you sleepy.  You could also call your general practioner and ask him/her what to do.

  3. Hiya,

Go to your chemist and ask for sleeping pills.

    Cheerio.

  4. I've lived in France for a couple of years, the first few times by plane your kindda nervous but after that you start getting used to it and you become more comfortable. Excitment may also cause you to be a bit scared or sick by plane, but don't worry about it. Make sure you buy really comfortable tennis shoes because the flight takes at least 8 hours, having uncomfortable shoes can actually make your feet a bit swollen because of the elevation! and trust me, if your not comfortable you won't be able to enjoy your first experience.

Don't be scared, you may want to consider drinking camomile tea for the nerves, drink it in the morning before the flight, bring a book, to help you relax. And with a good tea you'll be good to go.

    Good luck!
