I've seen lots of hockey fans brandishing rubber chickens at games. I'm just curious as to what it means. Does it mean that the other team is "dead meat"?

Hockey fans, please answer!

  5. when i was a kid, someone used to throw one on the ice at the old boston garden when the ny rangers would show up. the benches would empty immediately and a big fight would ensue. it was cool. so, it is apparently an insult to the away team.

  6. "Okay, so what's with the hats going on the ice at hockey games?"

  7. And at what hockey team's games would this be at?

Added: You're gonna need to be more specific than just Division 1 college hockey because there are still quite a few teams in that division.
