Haha...I got my period last night, and I was so mad. I wanted to go swimming this week, cuz it's the last week of summer, and my crush and my friends were gonna go swimming. But I can't now! My mom won't let me use tampons, or given me permission. Ugh...and I'm at my dad's house, so I have no chocolate! =( I'm wicked crampy too, and worried about leaking. What should I do to make me happier...rrgh!

My question is: how do you make your period a better time?

  1. I know periods suck.

    especially at dads house.

but what you can do is go outside and enjoy life.

Dont let this bring you down.

and make daddy go get you some candy (:

  2. Tell daddy you need tampons.. or go pick some up.. I'm sure there is really no way your mom will be able to tell.. it's not going to change anything.. so give them a try and have some fun!!! your old enough to have your period.. your old enough to make a choice like that.. enjoy xo

  3. first take 2 advil every 6 hrs.

ask your dad if you can wear them! don't be embarrassed. he'll probably be like "umm sure whatever"

    go swimming!!!!

  4. What you need to do is get tampons anyway. Seriously, they make it so much better. Talk to your mom and ask her why she won't let you use them, because there's really no logical reason no to.

Just watch some good tv and try to ignore it...

  5. When I was a teen, I had problems with Mom not wanting me to use tampons either - she was worried about TSS, which was a really big deal when she was younger.  I got so sick of pads - they just grossed me out, and I had really heavy periods and had problems with pads leaking.  Also, I was involved in sports and we had a pool, so this was really putting a cramp in my style.  Finally, I sat my mom down and had a talk with her about why she felt the way she did and why I thought I should be able to make my own choices about personal care items, and she gave in and taught me how to use tampons.  She did ask that I still use pads at night (so tampons wouldn't be in too long while I slept), but it was a great deal for me.

Try talking to mom when you get a chance.  You deserve to make your own choice and shouldn't have to give up things like swimming while you're on your period when there is a safe and reasonable alternative.  There are some great types of tampons out now, too, that are slimmer and have easy plastic applicators for teens who are new to using them.  Check out BeingGirl for some info to fuel your discussion -http://www.beinggirl.com/en_US/tamponfaq...

In the meantime, try a heating pad - it will help with the cramps.  Exercise helps too - maybe go out for a run or play some beach volleyball or something.  Good luck!

  6. Your mum won't 'let' you use tampons?

Well, what she doesn't know won't hurt her, surely? If you spend your money on them and learn how to use them correctly then it should be fine?

And stock up on painkillers. Trust.

  7. your mom doesn't have to know your using tampons.

  8. dont use tampons without your moms permission.

if she finds out she'll lose your trust

just trust your mom over random people on the internet.

  9. for me, its impossible to get my period under water. but it sort of depends on how light the flow is...so maybe ask your friends to go later in the week? i hope this works for u.

  10. Periods Suck, Don't They?

I remember my first HEAVY period. I basically took a Tylenol Menstural pill, sat in my bed, ate yummy foods and went on my laptop..

Sometimes it's just fun to sit on your bed, eat junky food that you normally wouldn't eat, watch your favorite or never seen movies and just have a quiet, time!

    Good Luck!

PS! If you don't have Tylenol Menstural pill, just take a regular advil or tylenol or 2! They will help!
