Um, as above I guess. I would just like to know what set of cables I would need to acquire if I wanted to do this. Just having video on the TV but sound in the other room coming from the computer speakers kinda sucks.

  1. if your tv monitor has a 10 pin computer input slot. (I can't remember I'd its a 6, 10, or 12pin) same size as the monitor cord to a desktop computer. Look on the back of your laptop, there should be a monitor output slot I think the symbol is: |square| ( shape of a square not the word)  you will need a monitor cord from the laptop to the tv. That will take care of the video.

Next to the monitor imput should be an audio mini-plug imput. You will need a double ended (male) mini-plug cord. Plug one end in the the microphone out from the laptop, and the other end in the audio imput mini-plug. It should be next to the monitor imput.

Same thing with a desktop, use the CPU box instead of the laptop.

  2. The easiest way to do this is to get a splicer box that is made to run a dvd player on a coax-only tv. Run the video and sound from the computer into the box, and then the coax to the tv, and all will come thru.
