So I'm driving point a to point b and back. Point a to point b is 630 miles....so it'll be a total of 1260 miles. The vehicle I'm driving is holds 20 gallons of gas. The vehicle has 23 miles to the gallon. Gas around here is about $3.65. What's the approximate cost of the trip? BTW...I'm not a student...or maybe I should go back....maybe a student could help me. Thanks.

  1. 200 I think.

    3 stops!

  2. Forget how much gas the vehicle's tank holds. That's not relevant.

You are going to drive 1260 miles. Your car gets 23 miles per gallon of gas. Divide 1260 miles by 23 miles per gallon, to find how many gallons of gas you will need for this trip. 1260 divided by 23 is 54.78 (round it up to 55 gallons of gas). Gas costs $3.65 per gallon. Multiply $3.65 per gallon by how many gallons you need for the trip (55). $3.65 times 55 is $200.75.  So the trip will cost you $200.75. Of course that means you arrive back at the end of the trip with not a stitch of gas left, LOL!
