    For example, an MRI may cost 2000.  But Medicaid cuts the bill and pays 600.  The 1400 is a write off - no one pays that.

Plus, there is usually more paperwork involved with medicaid because unless it is an emergency, surgery must be pre-approved in order to be covered.
