  1. there is no direct object

  2. I think it would be the mother. As I learned in English, the direct object can be found by asking who or what was affected by the subject. The subject is the main part of a sentence that is in affect, and therefore affecting something else. 'The what/who is doing what' is the loose deffinition of a subject. Who: "The frightened children" did what: "ran quickly to their mother". "The frightened children ran quickly to their mother"...what did the [subject] children do? they ran quickly to their [direct object] mother. (sorry for the repitition, it sometimes helps)

Also, the direct object usually comes after the verb. (children: subject, ran: verb, mother: direct object)

    Hope I could help? -Emmett

  3. Here's a hint:

The direct object is the thing being acted upon by the subject.

    So for example:

The ball hit the wall. Wall is the direct object.

  4. children

  5. Children. <-- I used a period and captailized my sentence.

    LOL. But I'm no goody-two shoes;DD

    Good Luck!

  6. This sentence has no direct object.  Children is the subject.
