PLEASE help me to understand b/c my thinking is that the sidewalk is usually empty. Why don't you run or ride on that? Because you slow up traffic. I'm not in a place like San Francisco where the streets are hella wide. I'm on a regular street. Does the road feel softer? i don't get it!

  1. Because they are morons and apart of the American public which as a whole sucks.  They are all selfish self-indullgent give me give me I want I want people.  Not caring about anyone else but themselves.

  2. Runner should run on the sidewalk if there is one.

Cyclists have the same right to the road as drivers. In fact in many states it is not legal for them to be on the side walk.

  3. It's a free country and it doesn't have a law or a right that says they can't bike or jog on the street. It's their desision if they want to get run over.

  4. Joggers should be on the sidewalk, but people on bicycles should be on the STREET.  Joggers are 'pedestrians' ... but the laws for bicycles are taken from the 'moving vehicles' laws that also are the CAR laws.  Would you drive your CAR on the sidewalk?  I don't think so, and bicyclers should stay in the STREET too.  IT IS THE LAW!

  5. It gives them more freedom, but they should stay on the sidewalks for their safty and they are annoying.

  6. Are there laws in your town governing street walkers?

In my town, bicycles are prohibited from the sidewalk--they must use the street.

Since these people pay taxes, I guess they can use the road, too.

  7. It really is dumb, I agree with you.

But I am happy that they do that because then, aggressive drivers like you and me will learn to slow down and watch what is happening around us. Plus another thought is that, they are helping the environment too. That equals less gas getting burned in both ways.

  8. ITS CALLED A SIDEWALK FOR A REASON. SIDWALK GET IT? Its not a Siderun or a Sideride. To save money in the outrageous gas prices people should ride and run more often to tell the gas companies we are done with there outrageous prices.

Remember everytime you get behind the wheel of a 2 ton car you can kill someone. This is your responsibility as a human to take responsibility and control your thoughts that I am on the road and there are little bike people on the road with me. Remember you can kill them but they cant kill you. You have the control by breaking and watching your mirrors. You have 3 of them. So be courteous and toot your horn to give them warning that you are approaching. Control is the key word here.

  9. Bicyclists have a right to be on the road. Joggers do also even though it's pretty rude to anyone driving a car. I'm with you on that one.

  10. I support bicycle riding, however, I never did see the logic behind a two-ton vehicle having to 'share the road' with a 50lb bicycle.  Really, it's not safe for bicyclists and certainly not safer because someone makes it 'the law' to share the road.

I think if the city makes it illegal to ride on the sidewalk, they should support a bike lane.

  11. It is illegal to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk. It is illegal to run in the bike lane if there is a sidewalk, in CA.

Bicycles are supposed to go with the flow of traffic and pedestrians should walk head on with traffic.

  12. Its a matter of space.

Because when people ride on the sidewalks the pedestrians make the sidewalks feel cramped.

Also, the rush through the wide open space just feel so much fun.

I personally don't ride on the road so much.

Just think of it like this:

If a person is dumb enough to ride through open traffic, it wouldn't be your fault when they get run over.

  13. Neither do I.I hate it.Streets are for cars not people

  14. I kn ow that is so annoying and terrifying.  Especially on two lane streets where the speed limit is 45 and you are behind a big truck that you cant see past and then once they swerve around the biker, to your horror you are coming at them super fast and there is another car coming towards you and you dont know what to do so you risk your life and the other cars life by getting super close to that lane to avoid this ballsy biker that thinks he owns the road!!!!

  15. because thats where they belong and your sapost to share the road with them. didnt you ever take a drivers test?

  16. In a lot of places it's illegal for people to ride bicycles on the sidewalk.

  17. I pay my taxes just like you do. I also observe all laws of the road....difference is im on a bike.

you are in a car, probably speeding, probably not paying attention to your surroundings, and probably being an idiot as to the law.....heres a lil education for ya...

im only allowed to ride in the street. I am required to observe all laws of the road, and remain safe. I am expected to pay so you can drive comfortably, the least you can do is respect my freedom to ride my bike, ensuring better health for myself, less carbons in the air for my kids, and a happier lifestyle.

  18. its not ideal but its legal in most states/countries to cycle on the road and illegal to cycle on the sidewalk/footpath. as for joggers, they should stick to running tracks, football pitches etc if they want a flat area to run.

Here in North Ireland their are a lot a cycles, most of them use roads and paths and dont obey road laws such as red light but police dont seem to care!

  19. I think they should ride on bike paths because they block the side walks too or parks

  20. I don't know but I hate that too!!!!!!!!

  21. sorry, as annoying as it may be, they DO have a right to be on the street. in most places bicycling on the sidewalk is against the law even if it's not strictly enforced.

  22. unfortunately, they have just as much right as caffeine fueled, cell distracted drivers. don't get me started on that.

  23. lol i feel the same way! i mean the sidewalk is only about 3 feet away from them yet they can't ride on it! Ridiculous I tell ya!  I guess they might think its more flat and dont have to worry about crappy sidewalks if there are some.  Now if it is a new sidewalk that has just been laid then they are some stupid people and should be ticketed or something.  Just another reason for a stupid accident to happen!! aaah
