  1. My brother had a Girelli.  It may have been owned by Harley at one time, they owned a golf cart company and a motor home company and they did own an Italian bike company or two after WW II.

That said, if the bike runs and stays running for a riding season the $350 price would be worth it just for the grins you will get from other motorcyclists (and even BIKERS).

Parts and service may be difficult to obtain unless you live in a very big city.

As I recall they were fairly simple and easy to repair if you want to do your own work.

The fact that Girelli was owned by Harley doesn't mean much and the mileage on the bike means even less.

    Have fun, good luck.

BTW, I'd buy the bike for my kid to play with.

  2. I think it is the other way around. The Harley Davidson was made my Benelli in Italy and was marketed by J.C. Penneys and Montgomery Wards. Pricing is what ever you think is fair.

  3. A Garelli. the  Garelli engine is made by the same company as Aermacchi, Alpino, Aprilia, Benelli, Beta, Bianci, Demm, Ducati, Garelli, Gerosa, Gilera, and on and on. Motori Franco Morini, thsese people are capable of building HIGHLY PRECISE TINY engines.  I saw a road test, in Motorcycle Classics, where one guy restored and ran a Moto Morini 3 1/2 Sport in the Moto Giro America race, held annually (for under 200 cc engines).

Better than a motobecane at $600!

  4. HD was a part of Aeromacci for a while, that is the company that made the  sprint and the rapido.  Interestingly, Harley is buying (possibly bought) MV Agusta. Just why escapes me bu so I heard.

  5. harley no longer owns guerlli

  6. sounds like the harley sprint which was made for them by an Italian company.I forgot who made them.kinda hard to find parts if needed.
