  1. In stock form, the speedo IS showing the top speed - there is a speed limiter programmed into the chip - that car will never do more than 115 without the speed limiter reprogrammed or the ECU removed.

Like was said, you can do whatever time and money allows to that car - but know that nothing gets done overnight (or even in a weekend), and if it's your only transportation, think seriously about anything before hand (and save your bus tokens).

I've been working on my Camaro for 3+ years, and it's still not done!  It's spent more time on jack stands than it ever did on the road - but it'll be show quality when it's done, and I have other rides, and I enjoy doing the work.

Get that grammer resolved, and visit http://www.thirdgen.org - all your questions are answered there, and then some.

  2. 1) Your sister's Civic is not a V4, it is an I4.

    2) 1988 V8's were not all that powerful stock.

    3) Although your sister's tach says 150, I highly doubt her car would ever be able to achieve that speed in stock form.

There are an almost endless amount of things you can do to that car, it all depends on how much you are willing to spend. If you are just starting to drive (which, based on your grammar, I assume to be true), just get used to the car before you start trying to go fast. A powerful, RWD car is the worst thing to give to a new driver.

  3. The speed printed on the speedometer has NO bearing on the top speed of the vehicle.

If it's a tuned port motor(big silver spider looking intake), check out TPIS and SLP. Both have websites, and both make excellent performance products.

If it's a carbureted or TBI 305, unfortunately it's a boat anchor. Throwing speed parts at it is like perfuming a pig.

Proof reading is unnecessary, as there is a spell check function on these windows.

  4. If you actually think that the top speed on the speedometer is the top speed of the car, then you would probably be better off with your sisters Civic.  Please learn to spell or at least have the common courtesy to use spell check.

  5. your options are only as limited as your wallet, first thing I would do is yank that engine and get a big block 502 or 572 and stick in it.
