Okay i know this is dumb but i am extremly scared of storms especially tornados they seriously make me wanna

cry lol i hate them and im by myself and there is tornado warning and all that for my area and im freaking out someone please tell me how to calm down

Storms arn't that scary, but tornadoes ARE scary.

If you have an underground shelter, might be best to stay under there and not worry, but you could also remember the rules of in a tornadoe: stay calm!

p.s, my sister had an idea, but its not good: Tie a rope to your foot and on the other end put a REALLY heavy item.

Okay.  Do you have a basement?  If you do, take your favourite blanket, a pillow, a book (if you like to read), your cell phone (if you have one) and go downstairs. Find a comfortable place and ride it out. It will pass.  If you have a pet, take them too, they help calm you down.

Not to worry tornadoes are very frightening storms but not if you are prepared. Try studying storms such as squalls, supercells, hail, shelf clouds, Blah, ECT.

Also it depends on what area you live in because some areas have special storm shelters like in  Dallas,Texas or Kansas City, Kansas, but other places do not and only have basements and little or no warning areas like Chicago, Illinois. Washington DC, and (if it's possible) New York City, New york.

Try learning as much as possible. Since I live in Chicago there is little warning plus my family say's i am dumb for believing that tornadoes can hit the Chicagoland area but i know the truth because a tornado could hit but I am prepared to go to my basement.

If you want I could show some usefull stuff like the lightning position:

First- If you are like camping and all of a sudden a storm hits try getting away from all metal objects such as your backpack or tent.

Second- Crouch down with your heels touching.

Third- cover your ears and close your eyes so you don't get blind and so your ears dont get hurt.

So thats the lightning possition also do not get flat on the ground as electricity from near-by lightning strikes could pass throught yours body throught your heart and kill you, also get in the lightning possition if taking cover of a tornado. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Well, if you're scared of storms because of lightning striking you, there's like a one in a million chance that you'll get hit, so I've heard, and your house/apartment probably has some protection against lightning striking your home on fire or something.

To calm yourself down in both cases, maybe stay on the lowest floor of your home and listen to music through earphones to block out the sound outside?  And...don't look out the windows.
