I need ideas for weird and wacky places to have my wedding reception.

I had wanted to have it in this castle at a local farm that they built for their haunted hayride, but they called and said it's too small to accomodate that many people, but I could have it outside by the castle... but thats not as fun.

Then I was thinking there is this historical state park near me that has all these old revolutionary war time buildings, so I was thinking I could have it there, but I don't know.

Help me think up some wierd and wacky places for my reception.

  1. Where do you live?

    Some places could be:

    ~ a barn

    ~ an old warehouse

    ~ a museum

    ~ an art gallery

~ a winery...(although I don't think that this would be weird OR wacky....but very nice.)

Sorry, that's all I can think of.

  2. any other castles large enough within driving distance?

    haunted house in october

    midevil fair

gothic themed wedding at a old rented house or mansion

    costume wedding in a ballroom

  3. If you are in LA or a city with the similar venues:

    *  Have the wedding/reception at an old movie theater (a la the Silent Movie Theater on Fairfax).  The theme could be old hollywood, and the ticket counter/vending booth could be the bartender, and the reception would be in the foyer

    *  Have it in a house and do a 'home' theme.  The favors could vary and be items you'd find in a home.  (i.e., towels, keychains, etc)

    *  Have it at a warehouse and set up the warehouse as an Art Gallery with a theme surrounding that.

    *  Rent out a nightclub and have a lounge wedding

  4. i had read that suggestion about the haunted castle I'm sorry that didn't work for you what about having at the farm in the barn! trust me its unique that's what we did we had it on the family farm the music blared well into the night we couldn't sell alchol so we bought it and had my sister and brother and law bartend it was awesome everyone kept saying it was the best party they have been too the old time building idea seems nice too what about having it at a museum or planetarium you dont necicarly have to  have your wedding at a unique place just make your wedding unique with theme food decor ect its the personal touches that make it your own what are you into are you country do you have an old soul are you into sports? give me a minute :)

http://www.shindigz.com/catalog.cfm?caid... a bit pricy but its something to start with get to gether some picknick tables...have your guests dress up

once you decide what route to go then the fun begains pick somthing that is your style then expand on it put that theme in table settings decor even have your guests get into it by dressing a certain way depending on what your comfotable  with the possabilites are endless good luck and congratulations

  5. If you do it on the Revolutionary War sites, you run the risk of winding up in a Scarlett O'Hara gown;

    Eek!

    Go for something more like this;

You can still have parasols and lace fans as favors, and if you're outdoors the men can wear swords(but hide the alcohol). Have everyone all in white, and maybe have fireworks at dusk. Make the reception a picnic-style affair, with sparklers to walk through as the two of you walk to your carriage! you could even give it Jane Austen theme, if you're of a mind.

  6. Where do you live? That would help me give better answers.

You could definitely do it at a historical location. I think that'd be cool. We've got a ton of that stuff where I'm from and it's all wicked cool.

If you live on the coast somewhere, you could do it on a huge battleship.

You could do it at a fairgrounds while a fair isn't going on.

You could do it in the mountains.

You could do it at a log cabin.

You could do it in a barn.

You could do it at a lake.

You could do it at a location that is significant to you and your fiance somehow, such as a place you first met or a place you once had a great vacation, etc.

  7. I want to have mine in a cave, but my boyfriend vetoed that idea (see if i marry him!). But you would have to consider the mobility of your guests..there are often steps in caverns and it wan be slippery. But it's always 52 Degrees!

  8. Where are you located? You could see if you have any weird or wacky museums in your area that can hold your reception for you. Historical sites sound good, too. You could also get married at a Renaissance faire.

  9. Do a theme wedding and all the guests must dress in costume....
