Okay please help. big leak on drywall-help!?

okay we have like 3 leaks in our house and one is like really bad (downstairs) and you can actually see a little stream of water running down the wall. we have the plumbers coming tomarrow to check it out...but my main question i have a leak above my bed and on the side wall near my bed and its not as bad just the mark and im scared theres like a health risk involved!!! i rreally hope its nothing bad but please tell me is it a health risk for me to sleep there??? thanks!

  1. You need to get rid of all the moisture in the walls and ceiling to prevent mold. You can get a dehumidifier to get rid of some of the moisture. But you can't see behind the walls to make sure it's all gone.

    You may get some people that say put KILZ primer over it to keep the mold from growing. If there is moisture then it's not going to stop mold from growing....

  2. Tkae some bleach mixed with water and wipe it down. You'll be fine and the bleach will take care of any mold that wants to form.

  3. if these leaks are new( few days) there might be alittle mold. if they are not new (a few weeks) you might have a serious problem. in some cities you have to report the build up of mold the housing board, or what ever you have in your area.

  4. Not unless you have mold, call a restoration company and they may be able to dry it out before mold can form. Otherwise you will need to replace the drywall.
