I have a large pink stain on my light brown carpet from red markers. I have a carpet shampoo-er and have gone over it several times. It is a little lighter but still very much there. Any reccomendations on how to get it out?

I've used some oxyclean, and am now considering soaking it with oxyclean overnight...

  1. Try dry-erase board cleaner or NON acetone nail polish remover.  Both will mostly dissolve the ink. Be sure to try it on a scrap piece of your carpeting or some area not seen first.  if the carpet fiber don't soften or bleach out then squirt (in the case of the board cleaner) or blot (don't rub yet) the inky area using as many paper towels as needed so you don't transfer the blotted ink to more of the carpet.  Keep applying and blotting as needed.

When you get down to that last stubborn bit of ink, you can re-apply the dissolver and rub the area with a smooth bladed butter knife or edge of a coin to break up that last bit and blot it out.

    Good luck!

BTW: The butter knife/coin trick works great on stubborn laundry stains.  Apply a pre-wash gel and use the tool edge to break up the stain so the gel can work.  Much more effective on a small area than those plastic landry brushes or brush-on-the-cap thingies.
