  1. A $1,500 budget is not impossible to work with, but it certainly makes things much more difficult. There's basically only one option. Financial aid. Most boarding schools offer full financial aid if your parents are below a certain income bracket, at Exeter in New Hampshire its $75,000/year and lower. The amount will vary by school. I would foresee you using all of your $1,500 on books, flights/transportation, and other miscellaneous expenses. The school will typically not pay for your extra expenses. If your parents make more than the income bracket set by the school for financial aid, then you will have to look at alternative options. However, I do not know of any. So if it's a case of your family not being able to afford boarding school then financial aid will take care of you, but if it's a case of your parents being unwilling to pay for it but have the ability to, then that will be a problem.

There are some beautiful boarding schools in Ohio, with great campuses. Here's a list of the well-known boarding schools in Ohio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_boa...

A school that has recently been founded or is relatively recent will typically not offer full financial aid. Go to the website of the school(s) that you're interested in and look under the "Admissions" section where it will include a subpage on its financial aid policy. But, obviously, in order to receive full financial aid you must have and maintain near perfect grades. Most schools will consider you for admittance regardless of your family's financial standing.

The first step should be to come up with your short list of boarding schools you wish to go to, whether they are in Ohio or elsewhere. Then sign up to receive the school's promotional materials (typically pamphlets) on the school's website, while some schools will not offer these. Then email the school and tell them of your desire to go to their school and your need for financial aid if accepted. Ask for further information on their financial aid policy, and any other questions that you might have. Get on the school's radar as soon as possible. Look at your grades and see if they are "good enough" to get you accepted into your choice boarding school. If you don't get accepted into your top choices, then it's better not to go at all. Do not settle for less. Best of luck.

  2. OMG!!!! I am a rising freshman going to Western Reserve Acadmey in Hudson OH!!!  Infact im leaving tomorrow!!!

I am so excited! Western Reserve is a fantastic, beautiful, welcoming school. I applied to a bunch of boarding schools.... including Hotchkiss, Taft, Lawrenceville, St. Pauls, and Choate (the top schools in the country). I got accepted into all of them, but chose to attend Western Reserve Academy. Granted, it is not one of the "top 10" schools, but i think i will enjoy it much more than any of the "top 10" schools. The people there aren't stuck up at all, and they are SOO NICE! And I love the town of hudson which is literally right next to the school.    Plus, I got a full merit scholarship for all 4 years to Western Reserve Acadmey. So that helped me make my decision..hehe...

YOU SHOULD DEFINATELY APPLY TO WESTERN RESERVE ACADMEY!!!! They are one of the only good boarding schools that offers scholarships. One full merit scholarship to a boarding student, and one to a day student. Give it a shot!
