  1. Its quite SIMPLE...this country is in a recession, depression whatever you want to call it, nobody has any spare money right now, its not cheap to sponsor a Cup or Nationwide Car, big corporations are watching there money as well, companies are laying off, look at gas prices, and look at the grandstands at the races, its tough all over. Nascar is not exempt from this terrible economy that George W Bush has gotten us in.. I'm not surprised at all by this... Even I have had to tighten up my belt a bit with gas prices, and the cost of everything... Yep Nascar is not immune to bad $$ times..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  2. smoken20....I am afraid this has been coming.  You stop and think about it for a moment.  With the cost of gas, and trucking the goods, food, clothing, everything will skyrocket.  Already has hit all time highs in some areas. People are doing without things not needed.  Not like before when we wanted something and bought it.  People are thinking about purchases and then deciding not to make them.  I have tickets for two races more this year.  Thats it. None for next year and it looks like maybe just to Loudon if at all because that is the closest to me.  Well the Glen is too but I choose Loudon.

Soo...sponsors are leaving because they can't afford it.  When sponsors lose massive amount of sales because the economy is so bad...sponsoring a NASCAR driver would be frivolous.

  3. Simple. The economy can not stabilize with the prices of gas continually rising. When construction companies bid jobs on a certain price and cost of living goes up because 6 months from now gas prices shoot up 50% then construction companies lose. Nobody will build houses because the economy is too unstable. Everyone is putting things on hold to see what our government is going to do to resolve this issue (if anything). Once people can travel freely without spending all of their money on transportation then the economy will stabilize again.

The problem is  everyone in our government is looking for the next person to come up with the fix blaming it on "this administration"  when reality is every senator and representative is "this administration" and every one of them  needs replacing. The problem is is the media has already determined that or next president will either be Obama or McCain and we have no other choices.

The solution is this. The only way businesses can succeed is for the consumers to have the money to purchase their products. With these companies outsourcing to other countries it leaves our workers without jobs or either our jobs are filled by immigrants that sends money back to their home where their families live in luxury.

In 2010 Chevy is suppose to introduce a hybrid car. I think that is where Chevy is headed toward market wise. Chevy will not collapse but what you'll see is a transition from gas powered cars to battery powered hybrid cars recharged by smaller fuel driven motors.

What we are experiencing right now are growing pains in our economy. I just hope our government officials are smart enough to take care of our people (no pun intended) and we can get profitable and life back to normal soon.

  4. It's really nothing to get worked up about...it happens every year. Welcome to silly season. Drivers get fired, sponsors change, crew chiefs change, etc. Yes we may see some bigger movements than we have in recent years, but it was a pretty big deal just last year when Jr. announced his moving to Hendrick and before when Kurt Busch left Roush for Penske and now Martin leaving DEI for Hendrick. Other big sponsors have left in the past and new ones always take their place. It's not a shock...it's just how it goes. The rich will always be rich despite a downturn in the economy and therefore NASCAR will survive.
