  1. mine didn't get infected

i cleaned it with a mouthwash

    dont pierce it yourself

the only thing you need to use to clean it is mouthwash

i've chipped my teeth on it

and it did change the way i speak i think it gave me a speech impediment

  2. First off; GO GET IT DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL!

All my questions are answered by assumption you will get

it done by a professional.  If you do yourself; you will NEVER

get it straight and it will look horrible

--does it get infected? not if you take care of it

--how long does it take to heal?  about 2 weeks.

--clean with anything? Get the alcohol-free mouth wash. Rinse 2x/day

--does it make you sound a little diffrentt? It didn't make my sound any different, but I know friends of mine who have a lisp now b/c of a tongue right. Just depends I suppose.

--and is it possible i can peirce it myself? NEVER.

--how to professionals know where to peirce it? They were taught by someone who has been doing it for a long time and watched videos.

--they cant see any veins through the tounge?? There are only certain ones they need to avoid and they know where they are.

--do u think i can peirce it if i get special things? Absolutely Not!!!!

  3. Lots of questions there, ones that a piercer would be able to answer instead of random strangers on the internet.  But since I had it done, I'll do my best

    1. it gets swollen 99% of the time. It CAN get affected.

    2. Don't need to clean it with anything. Just brush teeth as normal, that should do it.

    3. It takes about a week to heal.  You won't be able to eat much except soft foods (raman noodles, pudding, ect).  Get a slurpee right after it's done to reduce swelling the next day.

4.It CAN make you sound different. Some people develop lisps.

    5. Do NOT pierce it yourself.  They can see the veins, they're on the bottom of your tongue.  They have been trained to know exactly where to place it.  It's not worth the risk.

Make sure to get plastic balls after you're able to take it out (you're not supposed to remove it for the first 6 weeks). The metal balls will eventually chip your teeth.  And trust me, that's no fun.

  4. My daughter had her tongue pierced in college.  it swells up for a few days to a week.  Yes, you have to take special care while it heals.  Yes it can cause a slight lisp.  it can crack your teeth if you are not careful.  IT IS NOT SOMETHING TO DO YOURSELF. . . . unless you love IV antibiotics and emergency rooms.  Duh!  It is an open wound in your mouth, and makes you somewhat vulnerable to catching communicable conditions before it is healed.  My kid's piercing, about 11 years old, recently fell out, the hole had stretched and it would no longer stay in.

All that said, if you have it done safely, with sterile equipment by someone who undergoes health dept. inspections and uses sanitary measures (it is like surgery) and rubber gloves . . . I see no reason not to do it if that floats your boat.  Just don't be stupid.

And be aware that some piercings can cost you the best job you will never have.
