Oklahoma- Bugs/Bettles around my door at night?

i used to live in OK when i was little, and i remember that after dark like hundreds of these bugs would gather around our door. bettles or something. but there were so many. I wanted to know what they are called so i can see if i remembered how big they were.

If they are brown beetles about half the size of a  dime

They would be known in Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois,and Kentucky, as "June Bugs"
