Oklahoma City Thunder and Orlando Magic players to carry out a joint mini-camp – NBA News
It’s been over two and a half months since the lockout was enforced. During this period, several players have organized workouts with their team-mates and there have been reports of further progress in this regard.
Every workout that has been carried out so far has involved players from a specific team and until now there have been no session involving players from two different franchises.
However, all that is about to change.
Players from Oklahoma City Thunder and Orlando Magic announced combined drills recently. Both the teams claimed the 4th spot in their respective conferences in the preceding season and both have players, who are considered
as one of the best in NBA.
While OKC players are already carrying out their training camp this week involving players like Kevin Durant, Nick Collison, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, draft pick Reggie Johnson and Eric Maynor, the Magic stars are expected
to join the mini-camp next week.
The probables from the Magic are Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson and Quentin Richardson. Beside these big names, a number of other Magic players are also expected at camp, which will take place in Florida
During an interview, Jameer Nelson shed light on the topic.
, “This is the time we all come back into town and just get together and get around each other and hang out a little bit, whether it’s dinner or going to watch a couple of football games, and work out during the day. It doesn’t
have to be an everyday thing because we have a veteran team. Guys still do their own thing working on their bodies individually, and to my understanding, most guys are [working on their own] right now.”
In addition to these players Kevin Garnett will also look to join the camp. Usually at this point in time during the year players begin their training and participate in pickup games at their respective franchise facilities in
order to get in shape for the next season. However, this year lockout had scraped most of the activities.
First the free agency was postponed, then the summer games and now lockout is close to spoil the training camp.
