Oklahoma City Thunder beat Toronto Raptors 104-92 on the road: NBA Recap
Oklahoma City Thunder kicked off their road trip in style, cruising past the Toronto Raptors 104-92 here at the Air Canada Center on Sunday night. Thunder had majority of their games at home during the early part of the season
but now they have to play 10 of their next 12 games on the road.
Apart from the second quarter where Toronto Raptors scored 32 points, Thunder kept the upper hand for the most part. Russell Westbrook led Thunder with 23 points and handed out 7 dimes; Kevin Durant posted 22 points to go along
with his 7 assists and a same number of rebounds while Serge Ibaka gathered 19 points and hauled down 8 rebounds on the night.
“Everybody participated, everybody chipped in and everybody did their job," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. "We're good when we force the defense to chase the ball around and the ball finds a good shot. It's not really who finds
it, just as long as it's a good shot."
Alan Anderson led all scorers on the night with a night high 27 points to go along with his 4 rebounds. Amir Johnson had 19 points and 9 rebounds and Jose Calderon posted a double-double for the losing cause with 10 points and
11 assists.
Thunder did not let the momentum slip out of their hands even after allowing Raptors to outscore them 32-29 in the second period. Oklahoma City kept up the scoring and capitalized on Toronto turnovers to maintain a sufficient lead
for most of the game. Kevin Durant made key plays at crucial times and his Coach was all praise for him. He said
“He's all-around, he's not just an offensive player. He does many more things for us. He's a defender he's a rebounder, he's a passer, ball mover and a screen setter. He does all the little things that we ask Nick Collison to do”
Raptors went for a 19-6 spurt to take the lead for the first time in the game after seven minutes of play in the second quarter. Thunder rallied late in the second period to go into the locker room leading 52-50. Oklahoma City
kept pulling ahead in the second half and a 16-2 run late in the third period pretty much sealed the deal as Thunder went on to win 104-92 eventually.
