Oklahoma City Thunder guard Derek Fisher: We want it bad enough – NBA Playoffs Update
Oklahoma City Thunder are down 2 – 0 in the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs but that has not deterred them one bit. OKC’s veteran point guard Derek Fisher said on Wednesday that the team was focused on winning the next game and wanted
it “bad enough” to find a way to win.
Fisher only joined the Thunder late in the season after being traded away by the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline. Derek was actually sent to the Houston Rockets and negotiated a release in order to play for title contenders.
He found the contenders in the shape of Oklahoma City Thunder and has come to the Western Conference Finals with the team, and he wants to go further. Fisher has been part of many championship runs and says this team wants to win as any did. So whatever
strategy they have to devise and whatever plays they have to make, they will.
"You can talk about Xs and Os and adjustments and rotations and all those things but at the end of the day, sometimes you just have to want it," Fisher said. "How you define that, how you lay that out as a game plan, I don't know. But when you want it bad
enough, you figure it out.”
"We have to want it bad enough come tomorrow night in order to figure it out."
The Thunder lost game-1 after leading at the start of the final quarter but were outclassed for large parts in the second by a San Antonio Spurs outfit that looks pretty impressive at the moment. Fisher though said the team isn’t overly worried.
"We're not down on ourselves," he said.
He explained that although it was tough losing the two games, the Thunder still had the ability and the belief to get back in the series.
"We're obviously disappointed. We don't like to lose," he said. "But we still feel good about our ability to follow our game plan, do some of the things we need to do, make some adjustments and give ourselves a chance to win Game 3."
Game 3 of the series will be played in Oklahoma City.
