Oklahoma City Thunder still on the track despite two straight losses – NBA Report
Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls have been the best teams so far in the compressed season, a touch ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
So does it make them the third best team in the competition?
I would say yes.
Although most people would argue, Los Angeles Lakers and the reigning champions Dallas Mavericks are the next two best, but again, I am talking strictly about the win to loss ratio here, so in that case O.K.C without an ambiguity
is the third best.
And not only in terms of stats only, but even performance wise, they are right there at the top three.
Their only two losses have come at the hands of two strong teams, Mavericks and their group rivals Portland Trail Blazers- who are currently leading the Northwest group with a 5-1 record and it would not be wrong to say that their
starting shooting guard Thabo Sefolosha’s absence played a key role in both the defeats. Other than that, they have overpowered every team they have met.
Phoenix Suns, Mavericks and Orlando Magic are amongst the five teams they have handed defeats, and all these teams are solid teams and in a way contenders for the championship title this year, so this is another evidence how powerful
O,K.C have been so far.
Let’s give a look at the starting lineup now.
Kevin Durant has been exceptional as usual and has already produced four 30 plus tallies. He is averaging 23 points per game at the moment which is nothing less than the averages of best offensive players in the league, LeBron
James or Derrick Rose.
Then Russell Westbrook has also been outstanding and currently averages 17.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. His performance is augmenting with every game and by the end of the season, it surely would be in the 20s.
James Harden, a player to look out for this season is constantly producing healthy tallies. At the moment, he averages his career best 19.5 points per game. In coming games, he will be a threat for every team and along with Durant
and Westbrook will definitely guide the team to many important victories in the tournament.
Kendrick Perkins and Serge Ibaka are the two players that have looked bit rusty at times, but they have been playing the supporting role rather well at the moment.
O.K.C are the only other team apart from Los Angeles Lakers that have played 7 games in 10 days. Lakers as we know have a 4-3 record, so if a team like them can lose three outings, Thunder have done an exceptional job to just lose
two.
It is early to predict how far O.K.C will go this season, but I would not be surprised if they top their division and even win the title.
