Oklahoma City Thunders’ Russell Westbrook - Best Performances of the regular season 2010-2011 (Part-1)
Russell Westbrook, the prolific second year guard of the Oklahoma City (OKC) Thunder has been a force to reckon with this fall. The All-Star, who along with the leading scorer of the league, Kevin Durant, has made OKC one of the
toughest contenders in the Western Conference, has averaged 21.9 points and 8.2 assists per game during the regular season.
Here is an overview of his best games during the regular season.
November 4th vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Playing at the Rose Garden, Westbrook landed a game high 28 points and gathered 11 rebounds to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to an enthralling 107-106 overtime victory over the Portland Trailblazers. Westbrook was incredibly instrumental
for the Thunder on both the ends of the court and carried the action aggressively with Durant in a hardly fought showdown.
The sharp-shooter buried two decisive free throws in the defining moments of the game as the Thunder held off the spirited Trail Blazers for a one point win.
November 12th vs. Portland Trail Blazers
A week later, the Portland Trail Blazers arrived at the Oklahoma City Arena, hoping to avenge their last defeat against the Thunder. The game was expected to go right down to the wire and it did live up to the expectations as the
teams battled it out in overtime, yet again.
History however repeated itself as Russell Westbrook provided the killer blow once again and the Thunder won 110-108. Westbrook, who racked up a game-high 36 points and handed out seven assists on that night smashed the opposition
with 11 points including a scorching blow from downtown in the extra time as he single-handedly, won the game for OKC.
November 19th vs. Boston Celtics
On November 19, the undermanned Thunder arrived at the TD Garden without the NBA scoring leader Durant to face off against one of the best teams in the league, the Boston Celtics. Oklahoma City was massively relying on Westbrook
that night and the prolific guard responded in style. Russell scored a game-high 31 points and dished out six assists to outshine the invincible Celtics for a magnificent 89-84 victory.
Westbrook took the charge stoutly in the second half of the game and landed 19 points of his 31 to put his team on the frontline. Although, the Thunder scored only 12 points in the fourth quarter but managed to restrict the Celtics
to 15 points to seal an exciting win.
December 1st vs. New Jersey Nets
In a road meeting against the New Jersey Nets at Prudential Center, Westbrook truly had an impressive night as he propelled his team to victory after hanging tough through three overtimes. The Thunder were playing
without Durant once again and the responsibility to lead Oklahoma City was on Russell’s shoulders. He didn’t disappoint this time as well and racked up a game-high 38 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists, narrowly missing a triple-double.
After failing to fend off the spirited Nets for 58 minutes of play, Westbrook erupted with 13 points in the third overtime to clinch a victory for the Thunder.
