Oklahoma City Thunders strike down Philadelphia 76ers 109-103
The OKC Thunders add another lighting victory to their bolt as they hit the Sixers hard in their 109-103 victory. They overpowered the Sixers with their blazing, scorching, thunderous game and left them completely helpless in one of their most memorable
victories.
Durant and Westbrook team up to add 62 to the Thunders score book
Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook both scored 31 points for the OKC Thunders, holding 62 points to their record alone. Westbrook succeeded in grabbing 12 assists for the Thunders, who leaped past the Sixers leaving their mouths wide open. On the other hand
Elton Brand, Jrue Holiday and Jodie Meeks dished out 17 points each for the Sixers.
The Oklahoma City Thunders took a lead after they scored the final seven points of the first quarter. They awed the audience and the opponents when they dished out six points straight and by doing so they took the lead back 59-51 leaving the Sixers far behind.
Oklahoma City Thunders were playing a terrific game from the start hitting 85.9 percent and that too from the free throw line. They played even better in the first half 95.5 percent in a 21 for 22 on the line. They finished brilliantly at 94.6 percent with
35 for 37.
Durant got fouled
Kevin Durant was trying to duck past Evan Turner, the draft pick and was fouled while doing so.
The Sixers were very contended even after gulping down the hard defeat from the OKC thunders. Their coach later acknowledged that as he said, “We've got to be better in crucial situations but it's not like we got beat by bad players tonight, Durant and
Westbrook won gold medals this summer. They're great. We just have to get better”.
Lou Williams did not play up to the mark for the Philadelphia 76ers as he was just 1 for 6 in the first half for only three points. After that he couldn’t return to the game because of his left shoulder injury.
Russel Westbrook missed a golden opportunity as he had an open chance to play a dunk later in the second quarter. He went for a harder shot and played an over the shoulder reverse layup that of course, he missed.
Quotable: Thunder coach Scott Brooks appreciated the endeavors of his players when he said, "It's nice to finally hit some shots. Our offense was good at times tonight. Kevin's shots didn't always fall tonight but he attacked the rim
and got to the free throw line. That's what we need him to do".
Guard Evan Turner played 38:53 and scored 15 points while grabbing eight rebounds for the Sixers. It was Cole Aldrich, who came into the game in the very first quarter, blocked a shot for them and grabbed two rebounds easily. He played for a duration of
9:04.
Missing Players
Jeff Green fans could not find him in the second straight game. The OKC rookie sprained his left ankle and his backup Nick Collison missed his seventh straight game due to a stress reaction in his own left leg.
On the other hand Philadelphia 76ers guard Andre Iguodola was also missing because he has an Achilles tendon in his right foot. Forward Jason Kapono could not attend the game due to personal reasons. Seems like it was a bad game for the Sixers as their sixth
man Lou Williams sustained a contusion in his left shoulder and couldn’t return after the third quarter.
Coming Up: The Philadelphia 76ers will be playing against the Dallas on Friday, San Antonio on Saturday, Cleveland on Tuesday. The Oklahoma City Thunders will play against Trail Blazers on Friday, Spurs on Sunday and Utah on Monday.
