Oklahoma Sooners’ Dejuan Miller out for season
The Oklahoma Sooners have lost their star receiver Dejuan Miller for the rest of the season after the youngster suffered a knee injury.
Miller sustained the injury during practice on Tuesday 19 October. The junior tore his meniscus and has been scheduled for surgery. The club estimates that it will take Miller at least five weeks to recover from the operation.
The Sooners will miss Miller on the offensive end, as he has emerged as one of their top receivers. The junior has become a more popular target as the year has gone on, catching 10 passes in the last three weeks.
The club boasts an impressive passing game, helped on by the number three wide-out. The Sooners are currently ranked 12th in the nations averaging 303 passing yards per game.
Subbing in for Miller is Cameron Kenney, who has been trusted to contribute more on the offensive side of the ball. Kenney has been able to get involved in the Sooners’ offence sporadically. The senior has earned nine receptions for 125 yards and one touchdown
this season.
Oklahoma was ranked number one in the nation in the week seven Bowl Championship standings, taking over at the top for Ohio State. However, the Sooners face their biggest test of the season when they take on their rivals the Missouri Tigers. Oklahoma currently
sits at the top of the Big 12 South, while the Tigers sits at the top of the Big 12 North and are ranked 11th in the country. Both teams are unbeaten and have a legitimate chance at a national title if they are able to win this weekend.
Miller is the tallest among the Sooners receiving corps standing at 6’4”. The youngster has caught a pass in all six games this season, earning 199 yards.
