Oklahoma declares Sovereignty - Will more states follow?

Oklahoma state, citing the 10th Amendment (“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”), declared sovereignty on Friday in a near unanimous vote..

As the Joint Resolution reads:

THAT the State of Oklahoma hereby claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States.

THAT this serves as Notice and Demand to the federal government, as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers.

Do you think OK did the correct thing?

-and -

Do you think that more states will acknowledge the Federal Government's violations of Constitution power and follow suit to preserve State rights?

  1. Hey, I just found out!   Good for Oklahoma!

They are absolutely right, the federal government has broke away from it's rightful place and has taken enormous powers unto itself..powers that was never meant for the federal government to have!

And 5th grade history book should tell us that much.  I hope other states follow Oklahoma's lead...whatever happened to Montana?  I thought they were threatening to secede as well.

  2. absolutely it was the right thing, and we can only hope that more states will follow and not allow the government to overpower them..

  3. UK Answer: If what you say is fact then I certainly hope other states take action.  Of course the UK is being split up into Scotland, Wales, and various 'regions' of England and then Northern Ireland - because the European Union [which we never voted for by the way] want to make us weak.  Also they won't give any of our money back unless it is to a 'region'!  Good Luck USA.

  4. Aside from seceeding they did the absolute correct thing. Hopefully more states will follow suit or form regional alliances with other states.

  5. Absolutely correct! It's refreshing to see that some states are waking up and realizing that the US Federal Government acts like it owns the world.

At the end of May, Oklahoma also recalled a vote that would have helped allow the (alleged but "it doesn't exist") NAFTA Superhighway to pass through the state.

The folks in OK should be proud of what's happening there and I can only hope more states start owning up to their obligation of protecting their citizens.

  6. The security of states is second only to individuals.
