Question:

Oktoberfest 2008 from Paris?

I'm going to be in Paris in September and want to go to Oktoberfest for the opening weekend. What is the best way to get there and where can I stay for a reasonable price? I'm planning to go alone - what kind of activities are there besides the obvious (drinking)? Thank you in advance!

  1. I have never been to the October fest, and would not go there knowing that it is mostly drinking beer, but I can help you with a link for train travel.

This is the site for the German railways in English.

    http://www.bahn.de/p/view/international/...

It is rather easy to use, just enter Paris and the town you want to go, the date and see the results, likely on the next page it asks you for your age, so the info for tickets can be narrowed down.

Often you can buy your tickets also from this site.

If you find an 'special offer' price, book it as soon as you can, as these tickets sell fast.

If you do not see a special offer price, try to change the time of day, and the date if possible, to see if you can get a better offer.

If all prices are full fare or standard fare, you can also buy your ticket at the ticket desk in the main railway stations in Paris, for the same price likely.

You can also search for cheap air tickets, but on this short notice, the chances of finding a cheap one are small.

or google on both towns and tickets, or words like that.

    Or travel by bus: http://www.eurolines.com/index.php?id=11...

Or again use google for a more direct link.
