Oktoberfest....Which beer house is the best?????

I'm going to Oktoberfest in September with four good guy friends. We're 30 years old and looking to hang with the 20 - 30's crowd. Which beer house is the best?

I come from Munich and I love "Loewenbrau"  or if you dont like it to strong go to"  Hackerbraeu." Have a GREAT  time and keep in mind there are lots and lots of people. Try everything they offer it tastes good to a Mass Beer, thing of me. TX

Been there, done that, got the blue and white hat---all are good--- wish I could go with you-- you will have a blast....If you don't have tickets already to the biggees you might not get any...but all are fun..

dbdoit's answer is pretty darn good.

I lived in Munich for a year, have been to two Oktoberfests.  Augistiner is definitely the best brewery in Munich.  That tent has a slightly older (local) crowd, but a good respite for your third evening there.  Hofbrauhaus is SUPER touristy, but worth checking out for one night (it can get crazy in there).  Definitely get there early and look for tables.  I've found a table for 8 people!  You just send in a couple people, make nice with everyon nearby, and they'll squeeze in your friends.  Just walk around and see what tent fits you're style.

Remember, if you're not at a table, no beer for you :(

Eat the chicken and pretzles....mmmmm good  Fish on a stick...not so good (but that's just me)

Go one day and plan on doing more rides then beer drinking.  They have amusement rides that aren't even LEGAL in the states...CRAZY!

yeah, it's touristy, crowded, and expensive....but darn good fun.

Get there early, have a few cups of espresso, walk and explore the grounds to see what fits best for you. Be polite and try to speak German and they will open up more  to you with tips and advice.

I have been going to the Oktober Fest for 18 years, and plan on going this year - hotel already reserved(a year in advance). For general info(in English) check out the official Website www.oktoberfest.de, all the tents are listed with tips as to which ones have which kinds of crowds. There is also a Chat page in English where you may be able to find out more info or arrange a meeting. For younger crowds Lowenbrau and Hofbrau are the best(they get really crazy, I can explain that more if you are interested). Now, you will get all kinds of answers as to this tent or that tent is better, AND you do NOT need tickets unless you have a reserved table. Best advice; Get up early and check the weather out. If warm and sunny then the 'Gardens' surrounding the tents will fill up first and fast(no reserved tables there)and then inside the tents, and by noon it will be difficult to find seating for 5 people. Get there early especially on the weekends! Each tent has something for everyone, and I do mean everyone! A few other tips; Inside the tents the tables off to the side(raised platforms) and up in the balconies are reserved. Tables in the center are unreserved and normally first come first serve. DO NOT TRY to keep up with anyone from the United Kingdom, Ireland, or Australia unless you can drink gallons of beer and not get drunk. Do not sit with Italian men unless you want to get into a fight. And, if you want to meet the Bavarian&German ladies, be charming and watch what you say because the younger crowd understand English! That and the other tips I have learned after 18 years of Oktober Fest visits. BUT, I ALWAYS HAVE FUN, and I have met some truely wonderful and friendly people there from all over the world!
