Ola Afolabi: Marco Huck is a tough opponent but lacks the use of apropos tactics – Boxing News
Ola Afolabi, the current WBO cruiserweight champion, recently shared his thoughts about Marco Huck, his upcoming opponent, saying that he is completely ready and in good shape to take on the German proud adding that Marco though is a tough opponent yet lacks
the ability to brawl tactfully.
Ola and Marco will headline the much anticipated pay-per-view organised and promoted by the duo of Wilfried Sauerland of Sauerland Event and Ulf Steinforth of Sport Events Steinforth.
The fight card will also witness Alexander Dimitrenko and Kubrat Pulev take on each other for the vacant EBU (European) heavyweight championship hence constituting the co-headline bout of the event.
Ola recently underwent a training session in front of the media and later on shared his thoughts as to how he feels about the collision with Marco. Afolabi, 32, has been in a total 24 bouts and emerged victorious in 19.
He has nailed nine of his opponents by knockout and is on a continuous win streak since his last loss to Marco Huck. This will be the second time that Ola will take on Marco and his aggressiveness is duly corroborated with the fact that he is in dire need
to avenge his prior unanimous decision loss.
Marco, 27, is a surging young lad who has held the WBC cruiserweight gold for a very long time and vacated it to take on Alexander Povetkin. The attempt was futile as Alexander retained his WBA world heavyweight gold authoritatively by collecting a majority
decision in his favour.
Huck, also known as the ‘Kaptan Huck’, has been in a total 36 bouts and emerged victorious in 34. He has nailed 25 of his opponents by knockout and has a flawless and quite intimidating resume.
The clash will definitely be a tough one since Ola is well prepared and during the media interaction revealed that he has training and sparred alongside names such as the Klitschkos brothers who have offered him some useful piece of advice.
Ola commented, “I am not thinking of losing at all. Marco Huck is a tough fighter but tacticwise he is not very smart. With K2 and the Klitschkos as well as trainer Fritz Sdunek I have a great team and I am much more professional than in 2009. I am the youngest
of 8 brothers and thus I always had to fight, it is in my genes. I am mentally and physically ready for Huck. He needs a gun to beat me.”
The ring for the event will be stretched at Messehalle situated in Erfurt, Thuringen, Germany and the show will be televised on Germany’s national ARD channel.
