Ola Afolabi: Marco Huck will get a severe knockout if he tries to do anything crazy – Boxing News
Ola Afolabi, the former WBO Inter-Continental cruiserweight champion, vowed to thrash his Saturday night opponent Marco Huck, the current WBO cruiserweight champion, and said that he will give a stiff boxing lesson to the German proud adding that if he tries
anything crazy he will get a knockout.
Ola and Marco are scheduled to take on each other in a 12-round bout. The ring for the high-profiled event will be stretched at Messehalle arena situated in Erfurt, Thuringen, Germany and the event will be promoted by the duo of Wilfried Sauerland of Sauerland
Event and Ulf Steinforth of Sport Events Steinforth.
The above duo recently met at the pre-bout press conference and shared their thoughts about the upcoming engagement. During the media interaction both men put forth their firm resolve of grabbing a victory over the other.
Ola, 32, has been in a total 24 bouts and boasts 19 wins with nine of them via knockout. As it seems, Ola does not possess quite an intimidating resume but the reason why he is so optimistic and confident about the upcoming clash is his training under the
supervision of current trainer Fritz Sdunek.
In addition, he has also undergone sparring sessions with the Klitschko brothers, a facet that is being considered as a significant most probably a decisive one. Marco, on the other hand, has been in a total 36 bouts and has lost just two bouts in his illustrious
career.
The 27-year-old German recently decided to move up in the heavyweight division and took on Alexander Povetkin for his WBA world heavyweight title. The result was obvious, Marco lost the bout via majority decision and later on decided to move down again and
stay in the cruiserweight division.
During the press conference, Marco iterated “Ola Afolabi is a really tough guy. But mentally I am very strong. Therefore he won´t get my title.” Ola, on the other hand, adopted an aggressive stance and commented, “My experience is now so big, due to the
professional surroundings of Fritz Sdunek and K2 promotions, that it is not possible for me to walk out of the ring as the loser. I will give Marco a boxing lesson and if he tries anything crazy I will knock him out.”
The bout will definitely be a tough one as Marco possesses a clear upper hand over Ola in various significant aspects whereas Ola himself is coming from a strenuous training and if he capitalises all that training and sparring, he might re-gain his title.
At the moment, the odds are in Marco’s favour since he has formerly kept and defended the WBO title for eight consecutive times. The show will be televised live on Saturday May 5, 2012.
