http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ola-Toivonen-c28363’s future at PSV Eindhoven remains doubtful – Dutch Eredivisie news
PSV Eindhoven’s Ola Toivonen has remained linked with a host of elite European clubs in the past. Although the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur remained interested in acquiring the 25-year-old, the Swedish International
preferred to stay at Philips Stadion.
However, the Boeren’s failure to book UEFA Champions League berth in the last couple of seasons could now tempt the 25-year-old to move away from Philips Stadion in the ongoing summer transfer market.
The Swedish ace arrived in Eindhoven for the 2009/10 season after making 51 appearances for Malmo FF. The technically gifted striker has so far scored 34 goals for the Boeren in well over 50 appearances. While Toivonen has an ongoing contract with the Eindhoven
giants that runs until the summer of 2012, the Boeren have an option to extend his contract for a further two years.
The player revealed that he enjoys representing the Boeren, but admitted that anything can happen in the remaining weeks of the ongoing summer transfer market.
“The transfer market is still open. I really enjoy playing at PSV, but you never know what [can] happen. Whether there is any concrete interest? No comment”, Toivonen said.
The versatile forward then went on to express his desire of playing the Champions League with PSV.
“It's a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 shame that we only finished third in the past two years. I would really have loved to play Champions League with PSV”, the 25-year-old concluded.
While the player might want a move away, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Brands, PSV technical director, does not intend to let go of their prized asset.
“Ola is very important for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281”, Brands said while talking to the media.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fred-c14136 Rutten, the Boeren head coach, also believes that the striker is a key player and hopes for the 25-year-old to remain with his side for another season.
Reports suggest that the Boeren are looking to offer the Swedish International an extension to his current contract in the coming days and it seems likely that the striker would be pursuing his career at Philips Stadion in the 2011/12 campaign.
