The former Schalke midfielder has echoed his concerns at the decision made by the club bosses in respect to their departing striker this season.
The legendary Schalke midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olaf-Thon-c28365, has lashed out at the club bosses after their decision to retire Raul’s number following his departure this summer. The Spaniard is set to part ways with the Gelsenkirchen outfit by
the end of this season after his contract expires. He has already rejected a renewed deal presented by his current club and might test his skills somewhere outside Europe.
Thon mentioned that Raul is a special player but reckons that the club is giving him more than what he deserves. He enthused that no player deserves to receive this kind of treatment when he spends only two years at a club.
While talking to Goal.com, the legendary German also added: "http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stan-Libuda-c33910,

Schalke bosses earlier offered Raul a new one-year deal which was immediately rejected by the striker citing personal reasons. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international stated that his decision to leave Schalke came due to his inability to
give proper time to his family while playing in one of Europe’s top leagues.
On the other hand, Thon claimed that some of the former top Schalke players are certainly disappointing by the decision and has called for a review of the step taken.
"Maybe I'm a bit too conservative but they are players with real Schalke roots. They have a real cult status at Schalke. To compare this with Raul's two years at Schalke ... Well, that's too much for me. Don't get me wrong, but
you can't exclude the feelings of others hurt by this decision," the 45-year-concluded.
Raul has been a star at Schalke since coming from Real Madrid in 2010 and is currently into his last season at the club. He has three more games remaining to serve the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues before the 2011/12 campaign ends.
Schalke are currently third in the Bundesliga with 57 points and will next be in action against FC Augsburg on Sunday, April 22.
