He can barely swim just up for food and I'm surprised he stays in plants and blows bubbles. When I move vase he flutters fins and stays up by plants. He is still alive. Is there anything I can do to help him. Don't be nasty.

  1. well if he is old he might be dying they don't live forever you know!

  2. he needs a 2.5+ gallon heater aquarium

    vases are for flowers

  3. I will have to be honest, people always seem to love to put bettas in jars, bowls, containers, and many other things. They usually live shorter lives when this happens. I don't want to be mean, and have no intention of it, but getting a real tank for your betta is the best thing you can offer the little guy. Actually, I have two bettas right now. They are living peacefully together in a 15 gal tank. You should get him at least a 10 gal tank with a filter, air rock, heater, and gravel. Bettas love hiding places, such as hollow rocks and logs. He will be able to live a much better life if you put him in a tank, I promise. The temperature should always be 78-82 degrees. I suggest getting some live plants for the tank. They go quite well in it. If this betta winds up dying soon, this will still be a great tank for other bettas you get in the future.

Blowing bubbles is completely normal, but no liveliness whatsoever is not. People mistake bettas for being lazy, when they are actually very active, when put in a proper home.

Good luck, please email me or post more details if you have other questions.
