  1. If you have an analog  camcorder…

You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog  camera to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 70.00  and comes with software, but worth the money if you have a lot of Hi8 tapes to convert.

**Please Note There is no 8mm or Hi 8 to VHS Adapter that currently exsists. This type of VHS Adapter only exsists with VHS-C tape**

  2. Yep, snowwillow is right... Only... you can get it from $20....

    This one is for $40:

and there are even cheaper ones. Of course, you might want to spend $70, I'm not saying you can't :-))

One more note - as you can see on the example product, you can use S-video to connect into it (the black connector)\

You CANNOT though connect the cam directly into your laptop, since s-video on laptops is output only (like you wanna watch DVD and have no DVD player, you can play it on your laptop and watch on big screen tv via that s-video).

And if you have a projector with s-video input, of course, you can connect the cam into it to play the movie. But that will not solve the recording and (for example) making DVD from it. You still have to get that little gadget to convert it.

    Have fun.
