Old News delivers some good news in A3 race at Kinsley
They say that old news can sometimes be good news, and such was the case when Old News raced to a great first-place finish in one of two 462m A3 races on the schedule at the Kinsley Greyhound
Stadium on Sunday 21 November.
A bounding start from trap five allowed 7-4 favourite Old News to move quickly away from the rest of the pack. She always held and a commanding lead, and was able to transform that into
a terrific 28.32 finish to claim first place. Second place went to Feystown Ollie (6-1), who held an early pace and had every chance to win the race. He went on to finish 3½ lengths behind the champion with a time of 28.60.
A clear run landed Harrys Wish (4-1) in third place. He checked in with a time of 28.86, which was 3¼ lengths behind second place. Rays Rock (5-1) rocked and rolled after crowding first
and third. His fourth-place finish in 29.08 placed him 2¾ lengths out of the top three.
Paco Jack (3-1) moved slowly away and crowded first, and would go on to claim fifth place in 29.10. He was just a neck’s length behind Rays Rock. Sixth place went to Ross Yank (5-1). He
was forced to check, and would later crowd both first and third. Despite those problems, he finished only a head’s length out of fifth place in 29.12.
The next A3 race saw Corduff Said So emerge as the winner. Starting from trap six, the 5-2 favourite moved slowly away, but rebounded quickly to finish well, posting a time of 28.76. Finishing
a head’s length behind him was A Clean Sweep (5-1). She moved quickly away and led near the finish line, resulting in a 28.77 finish.
Hi Hoy Katie (3-1) said hello to third place despite holding an early pace. She had every chance to take the lead, but failed to do so, finishing 1 ¼ lengths behind A Clean Sweep in 28.87.
Made No Vows (6-1) vowed to finish in the top three, but it wasn’t meant to be. She was forced to check first, but finished in 28.90, which was a neck’s length out of third place.
Toomevaras Gold (7-2) eased the run up, but ended up placing fifth. He finished in 29.10, 2½ lengths out of the number four spot. Roxy Rush (7-2) challenged and was forced to check third,
losing 1 length as a result. She finished last in 29.18.
The races at Kinsley Greyhound Stadium are set to resume on Tuesday 23 November with an 11-race card. The first race is slated to begin at 18:33.
