Old Pbs show about drawing - with a guy named Mr. Mahuta?

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I can't seem to find or remember the name of the show, it was in the 80s I think. I also think I am spelling his name wrong, Mister Mahuta. The intro to the show had a whistle solo and he would whistle along.
