Old Projector question?

I have an old projector that has red and blue vertical lines. Should I clean the colored filters in there? If I should, what is a good cleaning solution? Alcohol?

Sorry, but the question doesn't provide enough detail to allow a good answer.

For example, what type of projector ... overhead, slide, film, CRT, digital (and if the latter, LCD, DLP, LCOS)? The cause and possible solution would vary widely.

I suspect you are talking about an LCD based digital projector .. but a brand and model number would help.

That said, in general I suspect you have a major problem and more than likely it wouldn't make economic sense to try to fix it.

Prices of projectors have dropped radically in the last year or so, and performance has gone way up. An older projector (except possibly an old CRT model ... and then only to a select group of fans) wouldn't stand up well to a newer model.
