Old Reader's Digest Story/Article about Child Abuse?

I am looking for the title of a story from either the 1970's or 1980's about a child who was given electrical shocks and had his teeth pulled when he could not recite his abc's. he was put in a dryer. He was eventually killed and left in a refrigerator. It was awful and moved me more than anything I had ever read. Thanks for the help.
