Old School Children's Show?

Question

Does anyone remember a very very old tv show for kids, it was about a man who wore blue overalls and worked in a hardware store, and a group of kids would come in and he would turn the wall around (or something like that) and take them into a big playhouse thing? I really don't think I made this up in my head, please help!
