  1. I think Leonard would run for most of the fight, so it's hard to say whether Margarito would get the chance to catch up with him or not. If there was no limit to the number of rounds and they just fought until somebody couldn't fight any longer then Margo wins. Otherwise I'd go for Ray by a shameful UD.

  2. Sugar Ray is a vastly superior boxer to Miguel Cotto, and was not prone to wilting under pressure. Picture the first few rounds of Cotto/Margarito, then extend it over 15 rounds. Margarito would constantly come forward but land nothing effective. Sugar Ray would box Margo's ears off and cruise to a lopsided decision. It's not impossible that Margarito gets TKO'd late on cuts/swelling, or by his corner throwing in the towel.

Sugar Ray is just too complete a fighter. A total mismatch.

  3. Leonard owns wins over Duran, Hearns, Benitez, Hagler and Lalonde (a lightheavy). He wasn't KO'd by any of them. He out boxed and frustrated  Duran when he fought "his fight". He attacked and KO'd Hearns when he was "blowing it". He KO'd Benitez in a great defensive matchup. Hagler destroyed the rest of the middleweight division, then after a 3 yr layoff. Leonard was still sharp enough and skilled enough to get a points win over Hagler. Lalonde I just threw in because he was a LH and didn't KO Leonard either.

I think if these guys couldn't KO Leonard, then Margarito wouldn't!

I don't honestly believe Magaritos resume' stacks up in comparison. He has a couple of nice KO's of Cintron and one over Clottey. He also has a great win over Cotto. He also has a couple weaker performances against Santos and Williams.

I don't see Margarito having much of a chance against Ray. Ray was able to adapt to different styles, he overcame some of the greatest fighters ever. At his best I think he wins a one sided dec.

    Thanks for a good question!

  4. Margarito is a tough guy, I'm not taking that away from him, but to say that he can beat sugar ray leonard is a little out there for me.  I mean Margarito's biggest victory is over cotto, sugar ray beat hagler, hearns, and even made the great duran say "No Mas-No More" so even though I'm not sure Margarito could be ko'd with a sledge hammer, leonard would have beat the eye brows off margarito, who is slow and not the best boxer in the world and I don't think he has the power of a hearns or hagler.  So although I think it would be a good fight, and would most likely go the distance I see sugar ray being the victor at the end of 15.

And to those saying Leonard would run watch some of his fights he is far from pbf.

  5. My prediction:

Margarito by knock out or ray Leonard by HUGE point victory.

I know Leonard was good, but i just didn't like his soft hitting style. I'm not hating on him, but I've seen the interview of B-hop and he said Leonard punches "like a little girl" I'm sure that is a vast exaggeration, but if a boxer says that of another boxer it is because the other ones punches didn't even tickle.

So it comes down to margaritos willingness to take some punches to the face to give some punches to the body until Leonard loses some of his legendary speed, and then margaritos aggressiveness in landing big punches to the head and scoring a knockout, because In my opinion margarito cant compare hand speed with leonard.

  6. Leonard was savvy intelligent boxer. I'm assuming it's Leonard in his prime. Therefore he wouldn't be lured into a toe to toe brawl as he was in Montreal in the first Duran fight. Ray stays on his toes, off the ropes and out of the corners and boxes Margarito's ears off. Leonard by a comfortable unanimous decision.

  7. You don't throw rocks at a man that has a machine gun.

    Leonard 150-135 or

    Leonard 120-108

  8. Sugar doesnt have the chin like margarito.... but margarito doesnt have the speed of sugar... it all depends on who's gonna run out first... if margarito keeps getting hit by sugar, he could fall short by a stoppage of swelling or cut... if sugar keeps getting hit and not avoiding margarito's punches, we could see a knockout... so it all depends on who wants it more... and to me, i think margarito is the one out there that wants it more....

    i see margarito winning it...

  9. if ray can beat guys like duran and hagler, then margarito is not an exemption as long as ray is in his prime. if otherwise,i'll say that will be a mismatch and very suicidal for ray.

  10. Sugar Ray Leonard no doubt. heck I don't think Margarito could of handle Duran or Hearns let alone Sugar Ray.

  11. This is and easy fight for Sugar Ray Leonard one of the all time greats Ray does everything Margarito does better Ray is just to fast to strong to smart he would find 3 different ways to beat Margarito in the same fight. Like the saying goes speed kills and Ray has more than enough to run right pass Margarito. This fight is stopped by the doctor in the 11th round Margarito is to brave for his own good Ray is pitching a shut out and Margarito is cut over and above both eyes and his jaw seems to be broken it,s all over Sugar Ray by TKO in a one sided fight.

  12. margarito will put to much pressure,  margarito by KO
